This role is part of the WaterAid Leadership and Engagement team, which sits in the People Team, and focusses on building the capacity and engagement we need to deliver our strategic aims and to make WaterAid a great place to work. The team has a global remit and this role will report into the Head of Leadership and Engagement.

As Global Internal Communications and Engagement Lead, you will deliver the Global Internal Communications and Engagement Vision to ensure the internal communications and employee engagement needs of the WaterAid federation are met. You will also lead on driving high levels of employee engagement, delivering a programme of employee events that support WaterAid's strong culture of engagement.

This is a fixed term, 12-month contract. It is a maternity cover with an expected start date of early May 2020.

In this role, you will:
* Lead on all global, strategic internal communications, providing strategic advice and support to global senior leaders.

* Lead on developing empowering and courageous leadership communications that provide employees with clarity and inspiration around the direction of the organisation.

* Maintain and drive high levels of employee engagement across the organisation by delivering a programme of employee events, and measure / track engagement across the global federation.

* Lead on major change communications so that employees across the global organisation are engaged and informed about internal changes happening.

* Provide effective leadership and management for the Internal Communications and Engagement Team.

To be successful, you'll need:

  • Proven experience of leading and managing a busy communications team (preferably internal) in a complex, fast moving organisation.
  • Proven experience of providing strategic communications advice (preferably internally).
  • Proven experience of leading employee engagement activities such as an employee engagement survey.
  • Excellent strategic writing skills, with accuracy and keen attention to detail, with the ability to create high quality, strategic communications.
  • Strong IT literacy, with high levels of capability using standard Office 365 applications (such as Yammer, Skype for Business, Microsoft Teams, a SharePoint based intranet), and the confidence and willingness required to expand knowledge and acquire new skills in this area.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to engage and collaborate with a wide variety of contacts (including at a senior level) across the organisation.
  • Highly creative and innovative, with a willingness to go above and beyond to create engaging and inspiring internal communications content.

Salary £41,200-£43,400 with excellent benefits.

WaterAid is currently located at Durham Street, Vauxhall. However, we will be leaving our current location in the summer of 2020 (likely to be June/July 2020) and moving to 20 Canada Square, Canary Wharf. Therefore the London Office location and contract base, if you are successfully offered the role, will change. This will be discussed at the interview stage with you.
