Working within the Mozambique team, the Head of Finance and Operations will;

  • Provide the lead in ensuring that resources are secured, safeguarded and utilised for intended purposes;
  • Ensuring provision of financial performance insight, support for financial planning, funds management and assurance over the financial control environment;
  • Overseeing capacity building of WaterAid partner organizations and assurance to ensure that partners undertake finance activities that aligns with/to WaterAid and donor requirements;
  • Keep the Senior Management Team (SMT) informed of finance issues and provide financial information to aid decision making;

To be successful, you'll need to have:

  • Professional Qualification in Accountant and ideally a member of an internationally recognized accounting body i.e. Institute of Chartered Accountants of Mozambique, ACCA, CIMA, ACA or CPA;
  • Minimum of ten (10) years post qualification experience, of which at least five (5) must be in senior management;
  • Minimum of five (5) years' people management experience;
  • Strong knowledge of fund accounting regulations for non-profit organizations;
  • Experience of monitoring budgets and systems development;
  • Strong knowledge of financial management best practices;
  • Experience of using an accounting package preferably Sun Accounting;
  • Experience of cash flow management;
  • Proficiency in relevant IT systems & packages.

We started because no NGO like us existed. We'll end when no organisation like us is needed. In the meantime, we're making great progress - since 1981, we have reached 25 million people with clean water and, since 2004, 24 million people with sanitation.

We're looking for people who share a commitment to our vision. We're looking for people with an appreciation and respect for different people and ideas, and the energy and expertise to help tackle the most important challenges.

In return, you can expect to get inspiration from the change you help make happen, a sense of belonging and the feeling of being part of a global community. You will also experience stimulation and fulfilment, the chance to grow, and space to be yourself at your best. This is our pledge to you.
